• Michael A. Degnan

Mr. Degnan brings a wealth of experience to the company. Previously, Mr. Degnan was Director of Finance & Accounting at SouthStar Energy Services LLC, where he was responsible for all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, internal control structure, treasury, and financial planning and analysis. SouthStar Energy Services, LLC is a joint venture partnership between two public utility companies: AGL Resources and Piedmont Natural Gas. Mr. Degnan also served as Controller for Amplified.com, a venture capital backed internet start-up, and as Division Controller for a unit of Scientific-Atlanta, Inc. Mr. Degnan began his career with the public accounting firm Price Waterhouse where he primarily performed and managed financial audits of public companies.

Mr. Degnan graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and is a registered member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Financial Projects and Accounting Experience

Mr. Degnan has a solid accounting background having implemented numerous technical accounting pronouncements including SFAS 133, Accounting for Derivative Instruments and Hedging Activities as well as successfully establishing a Sarbanes-Oxley compliant internal control structure while at SouthStar Energy Services LLC. Mr. Degnan's financial experience includes helping to secure adequate trade credit liquidity and diversifying a natural gas supplier portfolio. He also re-negotiated a $75 million working capital line of credit that resulted in improving economic terms while relaxing covenants and restrictions and has experience with the integration of acquired entities.
