Who is a potential eFuel user?
eFuel, the renewable end product of the SlurryCarb® process, has a fuel value similar to lignite coal and is an ideal coal substitute. It can be used by any public or private facility that currently uses coal to produce energy. Examples of eFuel applications include the following:
eFuel can also be used with existing gasification technology to produce electricity.
Is eFuel safe?
eFuel by itself presents no specific hazards and is not toxic to handle. The fuel product has similar properties to coal when burned and it is recommended that anyone handling the product wear appropriate safety equipment for handling any fuel product.
What modifications would be necessary to a boiler to allow it to burn your fuel?
Testing has shown that the properties of eFuel are very similar to that of coal and suggest that existing gas handling systems should be adequate for burning the product with little or no modification.
Have you run any tests with cement kilns? If so, what were the results?
We commissioned a series of eFuel test burns at the General Electric Energy and Environmental Research, Inc. (“GE EER”) Boiler Simulation Facility located in Irvine, California. The test burns were comissioned to determine what impact eFuel would have on cement kiln operations (flame stability, emissions, etc.) and on the quality of the cement product. The test burns conducted at the GE EER facility indicated that eFuel has a minimal impact on combustion performance or emissions of a cement kiln.
