Frequently Asked Questions
Renewable energy and sustainable business are at the core of our mission.

How does EnerTech protect the environment?
Our SlurryCarb™ technology provides a sustainable, environmentally beneficial biosolids management option that recycles biosolids to produce renewable E-Fuel. The E-Fuel can supplement coal in the areas where we operate facilities, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

E-Fuel lowers greenhouse gas emissions by recycling carbon dioxide through the renewable carbon cycle, whereas fossil fuels add additional carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. In addition, EnerTech is committed to streamlining our business processes and building efficient SlurryCarb™ facilities that maintain low carbon footprints.

Why is lowering atmospheric carbon dioxide important?
Historically, scientists have found that increased levels of carbon dioxide invariably correspond to increased global surface temperatures. When fossil fuels are combusted, the carbon they contain combines with oxygen in the atmosphere to form large quantities of carbon dioxide. As an example, carbon dioxide emissions vary by coal type, but even relatively clean-burning coals produce approximately 1.5 tons of carbon dioxide for every ton of coal burned. By combusting fossil fuels and other non-renewable fuels, we are continually adding to the net volume of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and thus contributing to the buildup of greenhouse gases.

If E-Fuel combustion emits C02 , how can it help reduce atmospheric C02?
E-Fuel use reduces levels of carbon dioxide by recycling CO2 that is already circulating through the Carbon Cycle instead of adding additional CO2 to the atmosphere.

CO2 that is in the atmosphere is collected by plants and stored to aid in the photosynthesis process. As these plants are consumed by society the CO2 that they store becomes waste and is naturally released back into the atmosphere. EnerTech’s SlurryCarb™ process captures and recycles this waste to produce E-Fuel. As E-Fuel is combusted it releases the recycled CO2 back into the atmosphere where it is again collected by plants for photosynthesis.
